TL;DR

Bitmine staked another 159,728 ETH worth about $390.6 million, lifting its total staked position to approximately 5.23 million ETH and 86.5% of holdings.

The company held around 6.04 million ETH, leaving it roughly 63,500 ETH short of Tom Lee’s stated target of owning 5% of Ethereum’s circulating supply.

The added stake could generate about $10 million in rewards while reducing immediate liquidity for that portion of the treasury.

Bitmine staked another 159,728 ETH worth $390.6 million, increasing the portion of its Ethereum treasury committed to staking to 86.5%. According to Lookonchain , the transaction lifted Bitmine’s total staked position to about 5.23 million ETH. The latest deployment puts most of the company’s Ether holdings to work generating staking rewards rather than remaining idle. The strategy centers on Ethereum’s proof-of-stake model, explained in this Ethereum overview , where validators secure the network while earning rewards.

Bitmine Pushes Its Staked ETH Position Above 5.2 Million

Bitmine held 6.04 million ETH before the latest staking move, with 5.07 million ETH already committed as of October 18. Adding the new 159,728 ETH brings the staked total to approximately 5.23 million ETH, valued near $12.78 billion. That raises the staking ratio from around 84% to 86.5% of Bitmine’s total Ether treasury. The deployment extends a strategy that has increasingly emphasized staking revenue within corporate ETH treasuries .

The company’s position of about 6.04 million ETH represents roughly 4.9% of Ethereum’s 122.1 million circulating supply. Bitmine remained approximately 63,500 ETH short of Tom Lee’s stated goal of owning 5% of the supply. Staking does not increase Bitmine’s ETH ownership, but changes how a larger portion of those existing holdings is deployed. That distinction matters as the company continues balancing accumulation with active utilization of its Ethereum treasury .

The rationale is centered on yield. Before the latest deployment, Bitmine estimated staking rewards of about $309 million at its previous staked level, compared with $369 million if its entire treasury were staked. Based on that framework, the additional 159,728 ETH could contribute approximately $10 million in annual rewards. The move converts another portion of Bitmine’s balance-sheet Ether into a yield-producing position without requiring an ETH sale. The approach reflects the broader contrast between passive crypto reserves and treasury models built around Ethereum staking income .

Higher staking utilization also comes with important liquidity considerations. Staked ETH is not immediately liquid because withdrawals can depend on Ethereum’s validator exit queue, which may lengthen when many validators seek to exit simultaneously. Bitmine is therefore trading some immediate liquidity for additional staking yield across a larger share of its ETH holdings. The latest transaction strengthens that trade-off: 86.5% of the treasury is now staked, while the remaining portion stays outside the staking position and retains greater near-term flexibility.
