The administration of Donald Trump is preparing new measures against international cryptocurrency fraud networks after the FBI received more than one million scam complaints in 2025.
Trump is expected to present updates on the investigations at a White House event alongside senior law enforcement and national security officials. Authorities will address the shutdown of fraudulent investment platforms and operations targeting impersonation networks.
According to the FBI, cryptocurrency-related losses reached $11.4 billion in 2025 . Of that total, $7.2 billion came from investment fraud, a 24% increase year over year.
The Department of Justice reported that its Scam Center Strike Force had restrained approximately $938 million as of September. Its operations include action against Xinbi Guarantee , a platform linked to money laundering services and scams, in which authorities seized $12 million and restrained more than $52 million .
However, frozen funds are not automatically returned to victims . Judicial forfeiture proceedings must first be completed, followed by the applicable restitution processes.
The FBI also warned about new scams targeting people who have already lost money. Fraudsters may impersonate authorities and demand upfront payments to release supposedly recovered funds.
