Vancouver, Canada – TheNewswire – October 26, 2026 — DESERT MOUNTAIN ENERGY CORP. (the “Company”) (“DME”) (TSX.V: DME, U.S. OTC: DMEHF, Frankfurt: QM01) welcomes the United States Department of Energy’s (“DOE”) October 23, 2026 announcement designating helium as a critical material under the Energy Act of 2020.
The designation recognizes helium’s essential role in semiconductor manufacturing, advanced technologies and other critical industrial applications, as well as the importance of strengthening domestic supply chains. The DOE identified growing global demand, limited refining capacity and lengthy permitting timelines among the challenges facing U.S. helium production.
“Helium producers across the United States welcome the Department of Energy’s recognition of helium as a critical material,” said Robert Rohlfing, CEO of Desert Mountain Energy. “DME began working with members of the U.S. House of Representatives in 2024 to advocate for helium’s inclusion as a critical material. Since then, we have made submissions to both the Department of Energy and the Department of War in support of this effort. We continue to engage with the Bureau of Land Management, where applicable, as part of our ongoing work to support domestic helium production.”
The designation comes amid increasing attention to the security of U.S. helium supply chains and the importance of domestic production capacity. DME remains focused on advancing its helium and natural gas operations in New Mexico.
