Ethereum is trading near $2,320 as investors weigh persistent ETF outflows, uncertainty around US interest rates and a delay to the network’s next major upgrade.

ETH remains under pressure after a weak October, with institutional flows turning negative and traders waiting for the Federal Reserve’s October 27–28 meeting.

Ethereum ETF Outflows Remain a Drag

US spot Ethereum ETFs recorded a small $4.3 million net inflow on October 23, but the broader trend remains weak.

Over the previous 21 trading days, the funds saw roughly $1.13 billion in net outflows. Total assets across US spot Ethereum ETFs stand near $14.6 billion.

The recent outflows matter because ETF demand has become one of the clearest indicators of institutional appetite for ETH.

A sustained return to inflows could improve sentiment, while continued redemptions would keep pressure on the market.

Glamsterdam Testnet Upgrade Delayed

Ethereum developers have also postponed the Glamsterdam upgrade on the Hoodi testnet.

The upgrade had been scheduled for October 26 but was delayed to allow additional investigation into interactions between EIP-8037 and existing smart contracts. A new activation date has not yet been announced.

Glamsterdam is an important part of Ethereum’s scaling roadmap.

The upgrade includes changes such as enshrined proposer-builder separation, block-level access lists and adjustments designed to improve L1 throughput and gas accounting.

The delay does not affect Ethereum mainnet directly, but it pushes back another step in the testing process before mainnet activation.

The Fed Is the Next Macro Catalyst

The Federal Reserve meets on October 27–28.

Most economists surveyed by Reuters expect the Fed to keep rates unchanged at 3.75%–4.00%, although further tightening remains possible later in the year because inflation is still elevated.

Ethereum, like Bitcoin and other risk assets, remains sensitive to changes in interest-rate expectations.

A more hawkish Fed message could pressure ETH, while a softer policy outlook could improve risk appetite across crypto markets.

What to Watch Next

For Ethereum, three factors matter most:

ETF flows: A sustained return to institutional inflows would improve demand.

Glamsterdam: Developers need to confirm a new Hoodi activation schedule.

Fed policy: Interest-rate expectations remain a major driver of crypto liquidity.

Ethereum remains one of the most important assets in the crypto market, but the short-term setup is still mixed.

ETH needs stronger institutional demand and clearer macro conditions before the current weakness can turn into a more convincing recovery.
