Disclosure: National Archives Says White House Sent Torn Records
Show transcript
To me, Matt, this is the most important email in the batch because it gives us the clearest view yet of the scale of the alleged document destruction during Trump's first term. Both classified secret and top secret and unclassified records were torn. Just close your eyes, Matt. Try to visualize this. The nature of the tears varied from partial halves, quarters, and smaller pieces. These tears were not just boom, it was halves, you know, quarters tearing once and then tearing again. The practice did not seem to follow a rhyme or reason, and did not appear to be a discriminant practice. There was no ripping policy that's being followed. It's not like Kim Jong UN sent a letter to Trump and said, I hate him. I'm going to rip this off. It was just like, oh, thanks, good letter. The energy that's going into this is remarkable that, like government records, professionals are having to resort to Scotch tape to do their job.
