Colby College president on the cost of college tuition
Show transcript
How are schools addressing students concerns about the high tuition and what should schools be doing that they're not yet doing? >> Well, there's no doubt that the cost of higher education is something that is driving some of the discontent, some of the disenfranchisement in a sense that higher education may no longer be worth it. To me, it's both cost but it's really about affordability. What we did at Colby was do everything we could to make this the most affordable choice for a family who needed that. So, whether you're if you're making $200,000 as a family, you pay no more than $20,000 to come here. $150,000, you pay no more than $15,000. It's free and more for low-income families when you come here. But, if you can afford to pay it, you're still not paying the full cost of what it costs to educate someone. And the returns on these on these educations have been very high over a long period of time. And as we continue to adapt and change, I think that will only continue to grow.
