Playing along without hitting a wrong note is the promise behind Casio’s Feel Sync keyboard, the CT-FS1 . Available for $400 , it uses an app to analyze a chosen song and keep the instrument in key—even when the music moves through key changes and bridges.
Key takeaways
Feel Sync adjusts the keyboard to songs analyzed through its app.
A split mode lets beginners and experienced musicians play together.
The CT-FS1 also supports conventional keyboard playing.
How Casio’s Feel Sync keyboard follows a song
Feel Sync works through a proprietary app: users upload a song, and an algorithm analyzes it so the keyboard stays in key. The feature supports complex tracks with multiple key changes and bridges, rather than only songs that remain in one key throughout.
For beginners, the practical appeal is being able to concentrate on rhythm, timing and expression while playing along, without wrong notes interrupting the experience.
The Feel Sync area can also be divided into two zones . A beginner can play keys at one end while a more experienced musician plays the actual notes at the other.
Touch-responsive keys and a regular playing mode
The CT-FS1 has 61 touch-responsive keys and can function as a conventional keyboard, alongside its assisted playing feature. Casio’s Feel Sync keyboard therefore supports both app-assisted sessions and regular play.
Its built-in stereo speaker system includes a surround effect, and players have a selection of sounds to choose from. A headphone output and Bluetooth integration round out the connectivity features.
Battery power, monochrome finishes and a $400 price
Weighing just under ten pounds, the CT-FS1 can be powered by AA batteries or an AC adapter . Those power options allow portable use as well as playing with an adapter.
Casio offers two entirely monochrome finishes : the black version has black keys, while the white version carries the same all-white treatment. The CT-FS1 is available now for $400.
