TL;DR

Polymarket gives Democrats a 94% chance of taking the House and a 76% chance of winning the Senate.

Kalshi shows similar expectations , with probabilities of 94% and 75%, respectively.

A Democratic-controlled Congress could increase crypto oversight, reshape digital asset legislation and intensify scrutiny of Trump-linked crypto businesses.

Prediction markets are pointing to a potential Democratic sweep as Americans vote in the 2026 midterm elections. Traders on Polymarket and Kalshi favor Democrats to capture the House, while giving the party an advantage in the Senate. The outcome could reshape Washington’s priorities , including the debate over digital assets .

As of Tuesday afternoon, Polymarket priced a Democratic House takeover at 94% and a Senate majority at 76%. Kalshi showed similar odds, at 94% for the House and 75% for the Senate. All 435 House seats are contested , alongside 35 Senate seats.

Prediction Markets Point To A Democratic Advantage

These figures reflect prices set by traders, not traditional polling results or guaranteed outcomes. Prediction markets gained visibility during the 2024 presidential race, when their contracts attracted attention as an alternative measure of electoral expectations. Their growing role in political forecasting has also brought greater scrutiny to the accuracy of market-based probabilities.

Political trading has cooled from its 2024 peak. Bloomberg reported that politics represented roughly 1% of trading volume on Polymarket and Kalshi in October, compared with more than 60% during the presidential election period. The shift suggests traders have increasingly focused on other event categories , even as midterm contracts attract activity.

What A Democratic Congress Could Mean For Crypto

A change in congressional control could reshape the committees overseeing financial regulation and digital asset policy. Democratic lawmakers such as Senator Elizabeth Warren have called for tougher crypto oversight, while a new majority could intensify scrutiny of President Donald Trump’s family-linked World Liberty Financial and potential conflicts of interest.

For crypto firms, the consequences would extend beyond enforcement. A Democratic-led Congress could slow or reshape bipartisan efforts to establish clearer rules for stablecoins, market structure and digital asset oversight. That uncertainty matters to exchanges, token issuers and investors seeking predictable compliance standards in the United States.

Ohio is drawing attention from crypto-focused traders. Kalshi priced former Senator Sherrod Brown, a vocal crypto critic, at 71% to defeat incumbent Jon Husted. The result could influence the Senate’s approach to digital asset legislation and the political balance surrounding crypto regulation.

The market signals point to a strong Democratic position, but probabilities can change as votes are counted. For crypto, the key question is whether the next Congress prioritizes regulatory clarity, stricter supervision or a combination of both .
