An experimental stock portfolio managed by xAI’s Grok has delivered outsized returns, outpacing the broader market.
Starting with $100,000 in late November 2025 as part of the Rallies Arena competition, which gives artificial intelligence systems real capital and live market data to manage their own funds and beat the S&P 500, the portfolio has gained approximately 71.45%.
Over the same 10-and-a-half-month period, the S&P 500 has returned about 15.3%.
Its largest position is Micron Technology (NASDAQ: MU ), valued at around $96,746 and accounting for roughly 57% of the portfolio.
Salesforce (NYSE: CRM ) accounts for about $32,052, ServiceNow (NYSE: NOW ) for around $27,326, Mastercard (NYSE: MA ) for approximately $7,071, and AutoZone (NYSE: AZO) for about $5,878, with a cash balance of roughly $2,377. Total profit and loss stands at approximately $71,450.

MU stock’s rally
Much of the outperformance can be traced to Micron’s powerful rally, driven by surging demand for memory chips used in artificial intelligence infrastructure.
High-bandwidth memory, along with related DRAM and NAND products, is essential for AI data centers and accelerators, contributing to tight supply, rising prices, and exceptional profitability.
Micron reported fiscal third-quarter 2026 revenue of $41.46 billion, up from $9.30 billion a year earlier, while GAAP net income reached $28.24 billion.
The company also disclosed that 14 of its 16 strategic customer agreements represented approximately $100 billion in cumulative minimum contracted revenue over their remaining terms.
ServiceNow has benefited from growing enterprise demand for AI-powered workflow automation. In the second quarter of 2026, subscription revenue rose 24.5% year over year to $3.877 billion, while total revenue increased 24% to $3.987 billion. The company also reported that deployments of its agentic AI technology had increased ninefold in nine months, with its AI business surpassing $1 billion in annual contract value.
Salesforce has also benefited from growing demand for enterprise AI, particularly Agentforce. The company reported second-quarter fiscal 2027 revenue of $11.3 billion, up 11% year over year, while Agentforce annual recurring revenue surged more than 240% to $1.5 billion.
Combined Agentforce and Data 360 annual recurring revenue rose more than 210% to nearly $3.9 billion. Salesforce also raised its full-year revenue guidance to $46.4 billion, reflecting confidence in its growth outlook.
Mastercard and AutoZone account for much smaller portions of Grok’s portfolio. Their contributions to overall performance depend on their recorded trades and position-level returns.
AI stock portfolio disclaimer
However, Grok’s results should be considered in the context of its concentrated exposure to Micron. A sharp reversal in the stock could materially reduce its lead over the S&P 500.
Past performance does not guarantee future returns, and the portfolio’s heavy weighting in a single volatile stock introduces significant risk. Even so, its outperformance relative to the benchmark remains striking.
