C3.ai Inc (AI) stock is pushing higher on Monday morning after Northland Capital issued a bullish note in favour of the enterprise artificial intelligence software company.

In his research note, analyst Mike Latimore upgraded AI to Outperform, and raised his price target to $16, indicating potential upside of more than 40% from its previous close.

His positive view is particularly significant given C3.ai shares have already staged a “meaningful” comeback in recent months, currently up some 45% versus their July low.

Why Northland upgraded C3.ai stock today

The primary catalyst driving Northland’s renewed optimism for AI stock centers on the company’s newly launched growth initiative – “C3 Code”.

Latimore highlights that this proprietary architecture significantly streamlines and accelerates complex AI application development, removing legacy integration bottlenecks that previously slowed corporate adoption.

By offering a more accessible and flexible software suite, C3 Code allows enterprise clients to rapidly build, test, and deploy customized AI models with enterprise-grade security and reliability.

This technological leap not only broadens C3.ai’s addressable market beyond massive government and fortune 500 accounts but also drastically shortens customer sales cycles.

Consequently, Northland views the platform enhancement as a fundamental inflection point that can reinvigorate client acquisition and drive predictable recurring subscription revenue over the coming quarters.

AI shares are attractively priced heading into 2027

Beyond the product catalyst, Northland points to a compelling valuation reset following months of aggressive sector-wide repricing.

C3.ai stock valuation has compressed significantly, with its price-to-sales (P/S) multiple currently hovering around 7.38x.

This marks a notable discount compared to its historical median multiple of approximately 9.2x, presenting investors with a far more protective margin of safety.

While lingering unprofitability and elevated long-term Treasury yields have kept conservative market participants cautious on speculative software names, Latimore believes the stock has priced in those operational risks.

With AI trading close to multi-month support, the risk-reward ratio “strongly” favours buyers who want exposure to enterprise-scale generative AI deployment without paying exorbitant multiples.

Execution and market momentum dictate the path forward

As C3.ai works to capitalize on this bullish thesis, market focus now shifts directly to operational execution and fiscal delivery.

The firm’s ongoing transition toward consumption-based pricing models and strategic channel partnerships – including deep integrations with hyper-scalers – will serve as the ultimate gauge for revenue acceleration.

While high-level insider selling over the past year has drawn some scrutiny, expanding commercial engagements and stabilizing gross margins provide a strong fundamental counterweight.

If C3.ai successfully converts its expanding pilot pipeline into long-term commercial contracts via C3 Code, Northland’s $16 target could mark just the beginning of a sustained structural re-rating for the software pioneer.

Note that the consensus rating on AI shares still sits at Underweight, according to The Wall Street Journal .
