A top Morgan Stanley executive says the market for tokenized real-world assets will reach between $3 trillion and $10 trillion by 2030.
Amy Oldenburg, the bank’s head of digital asset strategy, backed that range during an interview at the TOKEN2049 conference, reports crypto.news.
Says Oldenburg,
“We’ll definitely be within that range without question.”
Oldenburg points to private shares, structured notes and investment funds as areas where blockchain technology could cut paperwork and simplify administrative work.
She also sees room for tokenized holdings to be used as collateral once more assets are available in that form.
Morgan Stanley has pushed back its plan to support tokenized stocks on its alternative trading system (ATS) to the first quarter of 2027, after Oldenburg pointed to the second half of 2026 back in March.
Says Oldenburg,
“We need product in order to be able to support them within the ATS. And the client demand really isn’t there because the product doesn’t exist. So we just need a little more time to pass.”
The bank is also building its own wallet infrastructure for customers who hold tokenized assets and financial products.
Oldenburg says Morgan Stanley is watching the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), which plans to launch a tokenization service for securities held in its custody at the end of October.
In June, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency granted preliminary conditional approval for Morgan Stanley Digital Trust, a proposed national trust bank that would offer digital asset custody, trading and staking services.
