Show transcript
What have these months of the war been like for you as an Iranianamean? >> It has been a very painful time. Um because I think you know the Iranian diaspora is is no exception. Many diasporas um you know become so out of touch in ways with the story of or the experience of the suffering of people back in the homeland that their politics almost detach and become uh a politics specific to to that diaspora. Maybe Cubanameans um are similar. So it is it is terribly divided. I mean people um you know families falling out. I think most Iranians inside Iran are angry at the United States for attacking their country, but they do not see the United States as a reason for why Iran is in the dreadful dreadful hole that it's in. They blame the Islamic Republic. They hold the Islamic Republic accountable. But when you sort of read and and and circulate in the diaspora, I mean, they're just like American leftists. They're anti-imperial. They're angry at the United States. I mean the United States is not you know ultimately responsible for the welfare of Iranians. The Iranian leaders are responsible for the welfare of Iranians.
