Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs began the week under pressure after posting combined net outflows of $150.8 million on Oct. 12. According to data from Farside, withdrawals totaled $65.4 million from Bitcoin ETFs and $85.4 million from Ethereum ETFs . The figures extend a difficult start to October for both asset classes and suggest institutional demand for Bitcoin-linked products remains under strain after several sessions of negative flows.
ETF Withdrawals Continue After Difficult Start to October
Bitcoin ETFs recorded $65.4 million in net outflows during Monday’s session. The entire withdrawal came from BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), making it the only fund in the category to post a net movement for the day. Data showed that remaining Bitcoin ETFs , including Fidelity’s FBTC and Grayscale’s GBTC, finished the session with no reported inflows or outflows .
The latest redemption followed a challenging period for the sector. Between Oct. 5 and Oct. 9, spot BTC ETFs experienced approximately $678.9 million in cumulative net outflows . The recent activity adds to concerns that investor appetite has weakened after expectations for a stronger October performance faced early setbacks.
Ethereum Funds Face Stronger Selling Pressure
Ethereum ETFs posted even larger withdrawals than their counterparts , recording $85.4 million in net outflows on Oct. 12. BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) led the decline with $75.1 million leaving the fund , followed by $10.3 million in outflows from Grayscale’s Ethereum Mini Trust.
All other Ethereum products reported flat activity . The continued selling pressure has weighed heavily on the category throughout the month, with month-to-date net outflows reaching approximately $788.8 million. The latest figures highlight a persistent trend of capital leaving Ethereum-focused investment vehicles during October.
IBIT Remains Dominant Despite One-Fund Redemption
The most notable aspect of the session was its concentration. IBIT was the only US spot Bitcoin ETF to register net movement . This suggests the withdrawal was tied specifically to IBIT investors rather than a broad-based exit across the market. For comparison, on October 7, Bitcoin ETFs recorded a much larger $484.9 million net outflow , with IBIT accounting for $207.7 million of that total.
Against its historical cumulative net inflows of about $65.67 billion, the latest redemption remains relatively small. Bitcoin ETFs collectively managed roughly $106 billion in assets , equal to 6.35% of Bitcoin’s total market capitalization. Even so, daily fund flows remain an important indicator of demand because spot products have become a major route to Bitcoin exposure for institutions, advisers, wealth managers, and other traditional investors.
