TL;DR

Michael Saylor believes Bitcoin is entering a bull market and expects its price to climb back above $100,000 during the current cycle.

Strategy plans to increase its BTC purchases and continue issuing credit products, although Saylor defended the company’s ability to sell part of its holdings when doing so benefits shareholders.

The company holds 848,250 BTC, worth approximately $70.59 billion, and has nearly $7 billion in unrealized gains.

Michael Saylor , executive chairman of Strategy , expects Bitcoin to climb back above $100,000 during the current bull cycle and anticipates that his company will increase its cryptocurrency purchases.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Saylor said BTC is entering a bull market after rebounding from its 200-week moving average. According to him, Bitcoin is currently trading 25% above that indicator.

The executive pointed to a more favorable regulatory environment, growing bank adoption, and the development of tokenized securities as factors improving Bitcoin’s outlook .

He also maintained his long-term forecast that BTC could deliver annual returns of 20% to 30% over the next 20 years .

Saylor Defends Strategy’s Bitcoin Sales

During the interview, Saylor addressed criticism directed at Strategy for selling Bitcoin after years of advocating a long-term accumulation strategy.

Between June 29 and August 24, Strategy paused its purchases and sold 6,916 BTC while making adjustments to its balance sheet.

Bitcoin is raw financial energy. Strategy transforms it into Digital Credit.

At noon today, I joined @TimSteno and @CarolMassar on Bloomberg @Crypto to discuss Bitcoin’s bull market setup, AI and scarcity, and the future of Digital Credit.

Saylor explained that the initial sales triggered a negative reaction among investors, but the company later managed to sell thousands of bitcoins without causing a comparable market response .

The executive argued that Strategy must retain the flexibility to buy or sell Bitcoin , as well as manage cash, equity, and credit, according to shareholders’ interests.

The company resumed purchases during the week ending August 31 and has not sold any BTC since then .

Saylor said Strategy remains a net buyer of Bitcoin and expects to maintain that position during the upcoming bull market. He also anticipated additional issuances of digital credit products, such as STRC , to finance its operations.

Strategy Holds 848,250 BTC and Plans Further Purchases

Strategy recently acquired 250 BTC for $21.5 million , a purchase financed primarily through the sale of 125,183 MSTR shares and a $500,000 contribution from its cash reserves.

Following the purchase, its holdings reached 848,250 BTC , valued at approximately $70.59 billion . The company remains the largest corporate Bitcoin holder and has accumulated nearly $7 billion in unrealized gains .

Strategy also holds $4.88 billion in dollar-denominated reserves and another $640 million in cash, according to the cited figures.

Saylor defended the company’s financial model over buying Bitcoin directly or investing through ETFs. According to his calculations, since August 2020, Bitcoin has delivered an average annual return of approximately 38% , while Strategy (MSTR) shares have returned between 52% and 53% annually .

The executive attributed that difference to the company’s ability to issue credit instruments backed by its BTC holdings.

He also argued that rising investment in artificial intelligence could benefit scarce assets such as Bitcoin, which he described as the leading digital store-of-value asset compared with alternatives such as gold.
