In the past few months, there's been a huge shift in who's using the word affordability. >> I think affordability is a real thing. It's a real problem. >> Just a few months ago, the word was used widely by left-leaning creators. >> The affordability crisis, >> the affordability argument, >> affordability accountability. >> But President Trump wasn't a fan. >> It was a word, you know, made up by the Democrats. >> We wanted to track how podcasters were using words like affordable and affordability. We built a tool that analyzed tens of thousands of hours of podcasts from across the internet. We found that last month, right-leaning podcasters have started using the term almost as often as left-leaning ones. Cost of living is a top issue for voters heading into the 2026 midterms, and congressional Republicans are taking notice. >> It strikes at the very heart of the issue that uh uh a lot of people are talking about right now, which is affordability. So, if we zoom in a little bit further, mentions of gas prices have skyrocketed over the last year on both liberal and conservative podcasts. So, gas has now reached $448 a gallon. >> This is really interesting because it means that the high price at the pump could be a liability for some Republicans as we head into the midterms. In addition to affordability, we've used our tool to look at contentious political issues like AI and flock cameras and even President Trump. So follow along as we head into the midterms and we'll keep you posted on what we're seeing next.
