Show transcript
It is time for bookmarks where we each have picked a story. I love my coffee. Well, pretend we've snuggled up with. I don't need to tell it. This makes it a little harder. White couches. Um. But you know, as we did when we read, we all throw some stories into a cue, and these are. So listen. All right, let me start. Okay. I'm going to start this time. Okay. Um, I'm, like, obsessed with, like, luxury and how people spend all this money on all these things. Okay. Sounds great. Or just because you can't imagine living that much more seriously through these people. Okay, so this is the favorite luxury blade one private jet. Okay. Okay. Heard about it. Right. It's going to start leaving starting November 19th. Um, from New York to Florida. So it's going to start doing these things. Um, let me just tell you a little bit about this. Okay. So it has a lot of things on it. Starlink WiFi Lola blankets. It's a blade one kit that has about $800 of personal care products. You can have Pearl Street caviar. Oh, sure. Yes, yes, of course you can. Sit, uh, seat side. Uh, Caesar side salad. You can have bonbon candy a child. Okay. Yeah. So the thing about this, they're they're retrofitted planes. So everybody. You're not chartering a private plane, right? You're sitting with other people, but other plutocrats have your own seat. So it's your own aisle seat. Your own window seat, because there's only one kind of sea row, one row go through. So you get the private jet experience without kind of having to pay for it. But you do pay a hefty price. How much? $2,450 per seat. Okay, that's like, vaguely comparable to some business class flights. Yeah. If you get all that stuff with it, and if you want to bring your dog, there is a fee. $500? Yeah, I know, 500 bucks a day. And I don't know if bird is going with you, but yeah, it starts November 19th, but a lot of celebrities are doing it. Um, they're all jumping on board, so. So I have never flown private. But when you fly with the State Department, they have, like, the Air Force three plane. And then sometimes that one breaks and you get the really tiny little one, which feels a little bit like a private jet. There's not that many seats. The thing is, it's nice to everybody knows each other, so it's just a different environment when you're it's not like tons and tons of people, but some of those small planes I don't find very comfortable. Yeah, like I do sometimes. I'd rather like if no one was giving me the choice. But you're not getting to lay flat on that thing, Lisa. You don't get the caviar with that, do you? No, no, we didn't even get Wi-Fi. We got nothing. All right. Christina hasn't gone on the surveillance private jet yet. I'm sorry. I know so well about it. I will talk to Tom. Tom Keene knows about it. I'm sorry. Um. Wander up, if you would, to West 75th Street in Central Park West. And you might see a barn owl and a barn owl family. This is quite a fascinating thing. Not spotted Manhattan in recorded history. There's now a barn owl, a family barn, owls near a water tower atop a building in Central Park. You can see a photograph there if you're watching the show on TV or streaming, but you don't have a barn owl is in New York now, so this is a very rare thing has come out of nowhere. The people who first discovered this heard a shrieking in their child's bedroom. Thought it was the child. In fact, it was the owl outside the window, according to reporting from the Associated Press. It's just a very scary video we have. Young Lisa is just kind of the reflective side, very of the radio audience. Just imagine the eyes of an owl, a giant owl, glowing eyes belong to that water tower. Um. And I just want to say can bring it back full circle. We've talked about the Merlin app. I mentioned that shrieking. A lot of people were able to identify it because they use the app on their phone to identify what the shrieking was. Anyway, so people are camping out outside that corner to look for this owl. And I should say, you're new to the city, but we had flock of the owl. Yes, yes, yes. And then I remember in 2018 there was a mandarin duck in Central Park, which is this exquisite, very rare duck. And people would go there. Unclear, but I would go sometimes very close to here to go see it from the southern side of the park. You could see it in the I know a lot of people go to DC and just absolutely. And there's a whole book in our pocket table book about flock of the owl, which I have you received in your heart. So the love of bird is clearly running in the family of a bird, but also, um, it just is another thing that makes New York such a special place. I think that when this happens, it kind of catches fire and people are very eager to see and of course, flock them at a very sad and flew into a window they did that has led, I should say, there's a you know, our previous mayor really hated the rats in the city. There was a lot of rodenticide. There is some thinking the owl a the rat and that, you know, contributed to his death. We're pursuing other means now of taking care of our rat problem in the city. So I don't get to see things I've done on too long. Sorry. No, that was okay. That was very nice. All right. Mine is completely different. Okay. All right. Burkina Faso, West African nation has suspended beauty pageants. No more beauty pageants are allowed until they re-evaluate the rules and make sure they are reflective of the cultural values. And instead, the government has launched a science competition for women. They are trying to. It says we suspended beauty contest because the content needed to be reorganized. We relaunched them in a format that promotes women in our traditional values. They are now awarding a big prize to high performing female intelligence candidates to compete in mathematics, physics and chemistry. Um, this is down from students who completed their Science Track high school examinations in 2020. Chris is a reaction to this that it's getting over there. Here's the reaction for somebody who's been in pageants before. So if you look behind Lisa Mateo, I see this proud moment? Yes. Who do we have here? This obnoxious child is in a shopping mall in Colorado Springs, Colorado, next to, you know, the pretzel place where the teen super is? Yeah. I'm wearing a dress that my grandmother sewed me because we couldn't afford a pageant dress. And, um, I got you a trophy. Little Miss Sunburst and I have bronze for all of you. She still has the trophy. Here is the tiara from Little Miss Stephen Engle. You never know. I'm not, I'm not. I don't want to break it, can I? Yes you can. Oh, I only bothers you. This is. I was runner. This is not a one on Junior Miss. But I did it. This one I did for college money and I did not win. I'm so good. I was really awesome. So now, if you see, here's the question I got. If you're stranded on a desert island. Oh, no. What three things would you bring? Oh, gosh, I bring a book because I'd be bored. Um, some food and some water. Is that bad? Go back. That was the answer I gave. And that was not what they were looking for. A runner up on Bloomberg this weekend. Thinking of the runners up thinking.
