A Wall Street analyst sees significant recovery potential in CoreWeave (NASDAQ: CRWV) stock after the company lost $10.4 billion in market capitalization in a week.

Goldman Sachs upgraded CoreWeave to ‘Buy’ from ‘Neutral’ on Monday, citing the technology company’s potential to generate stronger returns from its artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure investments despite growing concerns about financing and demand.

The banking giant cut its CoreWeave price target to $106 from $139 while upgrading its rating. The revised target implies approximately 120% upside from the stock’s press-time price of $61.

The upgrade follows a 24% decline in CoreWeave shares over the five trading days preceding the analyst assessment.

The stock has also fallen 43% since August 11, reflecting concerns about credit-market volatility and the financing required for its next phase of growth.

Goldman Sachs believes CoreWeave’s annual recurring revenue (ARR) per megawatt (MW), and consequently its unlevered internal rate of return (IRR), could exceed expectations over the next 24 months.

The firm’s outlook reflects tight supply of AI computing infrastructure and its assessment that CoreWeave is differentiated from other neocloud providers.

CoreWeave’s potential for higher revenue

These factors could support stronger revenue generation and investment returns as demand for computing capacity evolves.

However, the technology company faces questions about the availability and cost of financing its expansion.

Investors are also debating demand for advanced AI models compared with less demanding applications, including whether changes in the mix of workloads could affect how CoreWeave’s customers monetize AI tokens.

Notably, CoreWeave’s growth strategy requires substantial investment in AI computing infrastructure, making its outlook sensitive to borrowing costs and the returns generated by its data centers.

Concerns about credit-market conditions have contributed to the recent sell-off as investors assess whether the company can finance its expansion on favorable terms. Uncertainty surrounding future AI demand has added to the pressure on the stock.
