TL;DR

Fireblocks denied being in advanced talks with Visa over a potential acquisition valued at approximately $2.5 billion.

Axios reported that the two companies were in discussions, but Fireblocks said the information was not true at present.

The crypto infrastructure company reached an $8 billion valuation in 2022 after raising $550 million in a funding round.

Fireblocks denied an Axios report claiming that Visa was negotiating its acquisition for approximately $2.5 billion . The company, which specializes in institutional custody and digital asset infrastructure, rejected claims that advanced talks were underway.

The Axios report , citing multiple sources, claimed that negotiations had reached an advanced stage . However, Fireblocks responded that it was unaware of any ongoing acquisition process.

“We are aware of the rumors about a possible acquisition of Fireblocks by Visa. This is news to us, and not true at present time ,” the company stated.

Meanwhile, Visa declined to comment on the reports , saying it does not comment on rumors or speculation.

Fireblocks Was Valued at $8 Billion in 2022

Fireblocks’ last publicly disclosed valuation reached $8 billion in January 2022 , when it completed a $550 million Series E funding round.

The figure reported by Axios would represent a substantial decline from that valuation, although the company has not confirmed any negotiations or sale price .

Founded in 2018, Fireblocks provides custody and infrastructure services for institutions dealing with cryptocurrencies and other digital assets.

In September 2025, it launched a stablecoin payments network with more than 40 participants , including Circle, Bridge, Zerohash , and Yellow Card.

Visa Expands Its Stablecoin Operations

The reports of a potential acquisition followed several initiatives by Visa to expand its stablecoin-related services .

In August, the company partnered with Zerohash to introduce stablecoin funding and payouts through Visa Direct.

Visa subsequently reported that its stablecoin settlement volume had surpassed an annualized rate of $20 billion , more than 15 times the level recorded a year earlier.

Its competitor Mastercard has also expanded its operations in this market. In August, it completed the acquisition of BVNK , a stablecoin infrastructure provider, in a deal valued at up to $1.8 billion , including $300 million in contingent payments.
