Recently it’s felt like every weekend, one of my Libra friends is having a birthday dinner party. Thanks to my collection of Naadam cashmere sweaters, I can feel cozy and still look appropriate for almost any occasion during the early autumn temperature lag.
I have over 25 cashmere sweaters in my collection, and among them Naadam’s are consistently the best. I tested two affordable crewnecks from Naadam and Quince , and despite being a bit pricier, Naadam is ultimately the better value. Its fabric is a touch softer and the seams are a bit more finished, which helps prevent loose threads over time.
One of my favorites is the Featherweight Cashmere Relaxed Polo, which is currently $49 off during Naadam’s Friends and Family Sale . I wear it to our drafty office. Large open workspaces like mine are usually cold, and I can’t exactly work in my winter coat. The Featherweight Cashmere Relaxed Polo feels like a soft, sophisticated dress shirt with its tortoiseshell buttons, breast pocket, and ribbed cuffs.
The knit is loose and airy, so it’s light enough to wear through three seasons. This 7-gauge single ply knit means the fabric feels thin, but not insubstantial. Because cashmere is naturally insulating, even a “featherweight” layer is enough to keep me warm in drafty indoor spaces.
That said, the knit is too loose to block high winds. I like the Featherweight Cashmere because I need ventilation when going from the wind tunnel-like streets of Lower Manhattan down into a stuffy subway car. Go for the higher gauge Signature Cashmere version if you want a tighter knit for cold outdoor settings.
The bottom line
Whenever I recommend cashmere to a friend, I tell them to start at Naadam. My top favorite is its Original Cashmere Sweater, but that style likely won’t be discounted by Naadam until Black Friday.
