Revolut has reassured customers who can’t access card payments, transfers and ATM withdrawals that their money and data are safe after a Google Cloud outage knocked out those services on Tuesday.

The failure lands exactly one year to the day that Coinbase, Robinhood and Lloyds Bank went down due to an Amazon Web Services outage.

Revolut reports more than 80 million personal customers and over 800,000 business accounts, with around 13 million users in Britain.

What happened to Revolut?

Revolut responded to user reports about service downtimes in an X post , reassuring customers that “money and data are safe.” The post also disclosed that its engineers were already working on a fix to “a service disruption affecting multiple services.”

We are currently experiencing a service disruption affecting multiple services. We can confirm that all our customers’ money and data are safe. We’ve been working to fix the issue since it was identified this morning and apologise to anyone affected and for any inconvenience…

The outage has been traced back to Google Cloud, with BigQuery, App Engine, Cloud SQL and Firestore among affected services. Google flagged multiple failing services in its europe-west2 region on its service health dashboard , with the incident starting at 23:08 PDT on Monday, October 19.

Revolut’s system status page shows 28 services as partially unavailable as of Cryptopolitan’s report, including card payments, bank card top-ups, transfers, ATM withdrawals, sign-in and premium features.

Reports count more than 1,500 reports from Revolut users on Downdetector. The London-based digital bank did not say how many customers were affected or when full service would return.

Lloyds Bank downtime reports have also spiked.

A year to the day after the AWS crash

One year ago, on October 20, 2025, an Amazon Web Services outage centered on its US-EAST-1 region in Northern Virginia knocked Canva, Zoom, Coinbase, Robinhood, Venmo, Lloyds Bank and Amazon’s own Alexa and Ring offline.

Coinbase users could not log in, place orders or withdraw funds on their mobile apps during that episode one year ago.

The outage also lands a month after Revolut disclosed a data breach in which hackers demanded $3 million.
