TL;DR
Seven additional issuers objected to tokenized versions of their shares trading on OKXICE, bringing the disclosed total to 16 companies.
Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Caterpillar, McDonald’s, Western Digital and Alphabet joined the objection list in the October 19 notice.
OKXICE still plans permissioned, one-to-one share-backed token trading on XLayer under the SEC’s temporary conditional exemptive framework, meaning the objections narrow its initial asset universe but do not cancel the venue.
Seven additional public companies have filed objections to having tokenized versions of their shares traded on the planned OKXICE Tokenized Securities Venue, bringing the disclosed total to 16 issuers. The October 19 public notice lists Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Caterpillar, McDonald’s, Western Digital and Alphabet among the newly added objectors. The document does not state their reasons. For investors examining tokenized shares , the new objections highlight that issuer consent remains a practical constraint even as regulated blockchain-based equity trading moves closer to deployment.
Issuer Objections Expand as OKXICE Prepares Tokenized Stock Venue
The seven companies join Cerebras Systems, AppLovin, Applied Digital, Rocket Lab, CoreWeave, Verizon, Applied Optoelectronics, Broadcom and UnitedHealth Group, which had already appeared in the previous notice. That raises the disclosed objection count from nine to 16. The earlier wave of issuer objections to the OKX-ICE tokenized stock plan had already shown that the venue’s regulatory path does not eliminate company-level resistance. An objection applies to participation on this venue and should not automatically be interpreted as opposition to tokenization in every form or on every platform.
OKXICE is a 50-50 joint venture between Intercontinental Exchange and OKC USA. Its planned venue would offer tokenized NMS stocks through permissioned Uniswap v4 automated market maker pools deployed on XLayer, with approved wallets receiving non-transferable credentials after identity, AML and sanctions checks. Third-party tokenizers must hold the underlying shares one-for-one through a registered broker-dealer, while tokens are designed to pass through equivalent dividends, voting rights and liquidation interests. The structure adds another model to the broader debate over issuer control of tokenized stocks . OKXICE is proposing blockchain-based secondary trading of share-backed securities, not synthetic price exposure without underlying stock.
The original proposed roster contained 63 tickers representing 62 companies, with Alphabet represented by two share classes. Fifteen companies from that roster have now objected, while Cerebras was outside the original list, leaving 47 original companies without a disclosed objection in the reference snapshot. The venue plans to pair tokenized stocks with USDC, USDG or USDT and does not conduct primary securities offerings. Its model also depends on functioning mint and redemption channels to support liquidity. Those mechanics make tokenized asset liquidity another part of the venue’s market structure. The growing objection list narrows the asset universe, but it does not amount to cancellation of the OKXICE venue at launch.
