Author Sally Kaplan (left) and style editor Gabrielle Chase (right) both swear by their Rothy’s clogs for all-day comfort.

There is not a single pair of shoes that I’ve worn more often than my Rothy’s Casual Clogs. Easy to slip on, excellent arch support, machine-washable — what else could you want in a shoe? And I know I’m not the only one who feels this way. My colleague, style editor Gabrielle Chase, is equally obsessed. We’ve both been wearing their clogs for years and have featured them in several stories across BI Reviews.
Rothy’s rarely offers discounts, but right now it’s having a huge sale just on its clogs . The brand is advertising the sale as “up to 25% off,” but some pairs, like the Braid Clog (now $99), are discounted by as much as 38%. I can’t overstate how rare it is to see a deal this good from Rothy’s.
The classic Casual Clog , my all-time favorite shoe that comes in 15+ colors, is 25% off (down to $119 from $160). Other styles, like the Penny from our guide to the best clogs , are only discounted by about $10, so we’d wait until Black Friday to see if you can get a better deal (no guarantees, though — Rothy’s doesn’t always do a Black Friday sale).
I’ve been wearing my pair of Casual Clogs for about 4 years, and they still look brand new. Clogs might not be everyone’s first choice for walking, but I’ve been able to do 10,000-step days in these shoes so I love them for long days out on my feet — even without socks. They’re also great for wearing in the house when I’m cooking or on my feet doing a ton of cleaning, which is why we featured them in our guide to the best slippers for women .
What makes Rothy’s clogs so comfy?

After testing so many pairs of clogs from the brand, I think there are three main reasons Rothy’s clogs are so comfortable, and those reasons are universal across styles because they all use the same footbed and upper materials.
Extremely well-designed arch support: The first is that the molded footbeds have perfectly contoured arch support that feel super smooth underfoot (AKA no lumps, bumps, or hard spots). The footbed also shapes to your arches over time, but not in the way that stiffer pairs like Birkenstocks take forever to do. Instead, the softer base allows your foot to sink in ever so slightly from day one. The cushioning isn’t too squishy, but it also isn’t too firm, so you get that perfect balance of support like you would with a proper walking shoe .
They don’t cause blisters: The second reason they’re so comfy is that Rothy’s uses a seamless construction, so you don’t get any uncomfortable joints or seams that rub against the sides of your feet. The upper is molded all the way over the base of the clog, which means no blistering, ever.
The upper material is soft and stretchy: Made from a blend of recycled water bottles and wool, the material you’ll find on Rothy’s clogs is even softer than what they use for their flats and loafers. That means it’s flexible when you’re walking and doesn’t require any break-in time like leather clogs. It’s also really easy to clean, whether you’re just brushing it with a gentle bristle brush (I use a toothbrush!) or throwing your pair in the washing machine. Just don’t put them in the dryer or they’ll shrink.
What size should you order?
Gabrielle Chase/Business Insider
Rothy’s clogs only come in whole sizes, which can make finding the right size a little tricky. We typically recommend going down if you wear a half size and going with your regular size if you’re a whole size, but there are some exceptions. If you have wide feet or plan to wear socks with your clogs, half sizes may want to consider sizing up. If you have particularly narrow feet, you can go up to a full size down.
You can read our full Rothy’s review , where we explain sizing considerations based on specific styles.
The bottom line
You won’t find a comfier pair of clogs than the ones from Rothy’s, but you also won’t find them on sale very often. The site usually hosts a couple of promotions a year, and isn’t even consistent about offering deals during Black Friday or Cyber Monday. We hope they’ll have another sale this year, but if not, it’s likely this is your last time to save on a pair of clogs until summer, when the last seasonal sale happened.
