Despite several key advancements on the technology and business side, Rivian (NASDAQ: RIVN ) has not been enjoying strong stock market performance in 2026, and this dichotomy is, arguably, evident in the two November 2 analyst notes covering the equity.
To begin with, UBS’ Joseph Spak upgraded his RIVN shares rating from ‘Neutral’ to ‘Buy’ on Monday morning, while estimating the electric vehicle (EV) maker can rally 39.80% from its latest closing price of $12.16 to $17 in the coming 12 months.
The Wall Street analyst highlighted the strong initial demand for the R2 SUV as a likely generator of tailwinds for the firm and estimated the latest selloff could prove a lucrative buying opportunity.
Spak also judged the company’s advanced driver-assistance system progress as positive for growth, revenue, and profitability, describing the December Autonomy Day as a likely catalyst.
Meanwhile, Bank of America (NYSE: BAC ) analyst Alexander Perry reiterated his previous bearish assessment of Rivian stock on Monday, November 2, and confirmed his previous $14 12-month price target.
Analysts predict 2027 Rivian stock price
Zooming out, Wall Street as a whole appears uncertain about the EV maker’s future, though it simultaneously seems confident that RIVN is trading below a reasonable valuation.
Indeed, Rivian stock is, overall, considered a ‘Hold’ by institutional experts and boasts eight positive, five ‘Hold’, and four ‘Sell’ recommendations, per the data Finbold retrieved from TipRanks on November 2.
On average, RIVN shares are expected to rally 38.35% to $16.82 in the next 12 months.

Rivian performance in 2026
Elsewhere, Wall Street’s forecasts would, if they prove correct, represent a significant 2027 reversal from the EV maker’s 2026 performance. Rivian stock closed at $19.41 on January 2 – the first regular session of the year – and was, at the latest close, changing hands at $12.16, meaning it has suffered a 37.35% decline year-to-date (YTD).

Despite the losses, the company has been making business and technological advances. For example, it has become part of a growing coalition of car makers increasing the use of 3D printing for various manufacturing tools and select automobile parts in a drive to decrease production costs.
Additionally, Rivian started shipping an electric van with a 30% greater range and all-wheel drive (AWD) earlier in October.
