Chinese AI models gain ground on price and performance

Chinese AI models. They've gone from, you know, getting kind of like single-digit percentages of the tokens that are used, which is the unit used to measure AI usage, um to getting like up to, well, more than 50% of tokens that are used on platforms like OpenRouter. Cost has been a huge reason that Chinese animals have seen so much of a gain in terms of their adoption. One, we've seen their capability really ramp up. And two, they're typically much cheaper than US models. Now, what we are beginning to see is companies like OpenAI and Anthropic, which do produce the most advanced models, the most advanced models being also the most expensive models, but OpenAI and Anthropic, they're both beginning to release models that are cheaper.
