Oracle Trucking Gas to Keep Data Centers on Track
Show transcript
We'll get to the reaction later. The basic state that trucking in natural gas. That seems reasonable. I mean, we'll talk about an ideal world. You wouldn't be anywhere near this. You kind of have a data center that you plug into the electrical grid. Failing that, you have an onsite power plant that you have a pipeline to. But what is the delay on this pipeline being a problem? Yes. But then if a pipeline is delayed six months out, then you start saying, wow, we've borrowed a lot of money to build these data centers. Our entire business is premised on getting them online quickly. We need to find a stop gap. And so trucking out large amounts of gas is something you would do for, say, mining in the outback or right industrial, temporary industrial actions in very remote places. And now you have 30 trucks a day going to data centers outside of Salt Lake City. And so we're quite far from the ideal power scenario. But Oracle is finding a way to keep these things moving. So Oracle did not respond to our request to comment on the story. But I saw the posting on the socials something related to this. And then the stock reaction in the moment. There was a lot going on, right? Yeah. Oracle didn't respond to a request for comment, but then they tweeted pretty much saying, hey, we love our partner. That helps us do this thing. And so I see like they're getting the gas onto the vax into the site okay. And then yeah I think the stock was on is up again almost 5% today. But it was under pressure in part because of the confusion around open Eyes are on. And then when this report broke there was continue sort of downward slide. Is that right? Right. Our understanding there is that the market for this has a bit hey, the delays are more significant than maybe we expected, right? I mean, this is quite a this is a situation where you only do this if you're really under the gun. And so our reporting shows that Oracle's finding a way to make it work. But their back is up against the wall here.
