Sen. Thom Tillis: ‘Most people see through’ Trump’s $5k direct payments proposal

There's a a lack of awareness on things that are working against us right now. And instead of fixing those problems, I think we're layering on other levels of complexity. $5,000 payment if Republicans win the election is a classic example. My math goes to Okay, if it's a $5,000 payment to every adult, that's about $1.35 trillion. There's also about 71 million kids in this country. We're adding $16,000 worth of debt that they're going to have to repay cuz we don't have any genies making that money. Those are the gimmicks and things that I think most people see through.
