What is Auracast? #Vergecast

It's a way for your headphones to connect to an open broadcast in the same way that your car stereo connects to an FM broadcast. So you're at the airport and they're broadcasting out the gate announcements which are very difficult to to make out at least for me. >> Careful 16 miles, >> right? That's my experience. >> Was that my gate? Was that the gate ex who who was that for? And I am already stressed about travel. So adding the stress of not knowing what the announcements are is another thing. But then you can get those announcements directly to your headphones and be able to hear clearly what's going on. If you are in a lecture hall and the professor has acast microphone, they can broadcast that directly to your headphones so you don't miss anything that you might need to learn for the next final. It's great for accessibility and people that have difficulty hearing or difficulty picking out what they need to hear from a noisy environment. At the gym, you can put those on, get the audio from the TV, >> you know, stuff like that. And with your noise cancelling, block out all of that music that you might not want to hear. >> I think there's actually a lot of stuff you will start to see once a feature like OraCast is supported everywhere. So, it seems to me like it is totally a solution in search of a problem until it's everywhere and then we might see a lot of cool stuff start to happen. And it does seem like pretty quickly all these companies are starting to adopt it, which is awesome.
