WNBA viewership surges as playoff game may be most-watched for the league

I mean, regular season numbers were outstanding for the WNBA, up 17% overall from a year ago. And really across the board, whether you look at broadcast TV, cable TV, streaming, the numbers are up. And now we're in the playoffs, and tonight's game three game between Caitlin Clark's Indiana Fever and Asia Wilson's Las Vegas Aces airs on CNBC, believe it or not. A simulcast where you can see it actually on either Versus USA or CNBC. That game, I think it has a possibility that it will be the highest-rated WNBA game of all time. An elimination game between arguably the two biggest stars in the WNBA. Um so, we will see with those numbers. But if you we the the game one numbers are already out, and that was one of the most watched games of all time, over 2 million viewers of that game. And by the way, coincidentally, purely coincidentally, lining up for what could be the highest-rated WNBA game, Caitlin Clark's signature Nike shoe comes out today. Which has been in the works for years. And so, there's just simultaneously, it happens to come out today. I actually think Nike should have made a bigger deal out of this. Maybe they didn't know this would happen, so it was hard to kind of concoct a giant marketing scheme. But, you know, given the fact that this is the biggest star in the league and her signature shoe happens to come out on the same day that the most watched WNBA game could be happening, you'd expect today to be some sort of huge marketing event. Maybe Nike will try to pull some things together at the last minute. I know there's like a pop-up store in Iowa that they're doing. But this is a big event for both the WNBA and for Nike and for Caitlin Clark.
