Seven Rallies in Seven Days: We Follow Trump’s Big Midterm Push
Show transcript
President Trump just held seven rallies in the past seven days. Some of my colleagues and I traveled along with him to see how he's reaching out to voters in these largely red states with one goal to drive up Republican turnout and stave off GOP losses in the midterms. >> You have to do this November 3rd. Whatever you do, get out and vote. >> President Trump just wrapped up in North Carolina. He promised to send voters $5,000 if they retain the House and the Senate. He also had Commerce Secretary Howard Wutnick come up on stage and talk about a semiup plant he wants to build to bring jobs to North Carolina. >> They're gonna build it right here in North Carolina. Hundreds of millions of dollars. >> President Trump just started with his remarks here in South Carolina and within two or three days protesters corrupting. Mother is break corrupting right now. This is a new theme and you can hear the booms turning down from the audience. Protesters have followed him throughout this entire tour of the stage. You can hear the voos. Right now, the police are escorting another protester, the second in less than 10 minutes out of the arena here in South Carolina. >> It's all paid for. They're a bunch of fakers. They're terrible people. They're terrible. The people that pay them are sick and they want to destroy our country. >> I'm here in Sous City, Iowa, where people from Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota have come to hear President Trump speak. The races in Iowa are really tight and Republicans are hoping that Donald Trump's presence will motivate voters to turn out in both. >> What is it about a Trump rally that brings you out? >> The wife. [laughter] >> She loves them. My son-in-law loves them. [cheering] >> Met a packed university gym. This is smaller than the average site for a rally for Trump in Florida, but it is cool. And this is key to Trump's strategy, which is to get Republicans out to vote. This is a very, very red area, but the Republican strategy comes down to getting their voters out to counter the enthusiasm from Democrats. >> President Trump's wrapping up a rally here in Georgia. He ripped into President Obama. He is on the campaign trail today with Democrats. >> The current president chose to make a series of bad decisions. President Trump also offered some, you know, some highlights here for this crowd. >> Audi has just committed to invest $4.2 billion in nearby Mon. >> In all the rallies, Trump stuck to the playbook that helped him win back the White House in 2024, which is targeting the MAGA base, especially people who don't typically show up at the polls. But with Trump's approval rating at a record low, the question is whether he still has enough political sway to help Republicans avoid major losses in the midterms.
