Debt Heads Podcaster Says She’s Not Trying to Get to Debt Zero
Show transcript
The idea that debt is this thing that we need to look in within ourselves and be better. Only we can help ourselves. Yeah. And Debt Heads comes from a very different perspective. A more recent TikTok video you did, which I saw where you're basically like, I'm in this debt and I don't even care because now you're like, blackpilled, right? Paraphrasing, paraphrasing, yes, but it's true. I mean, talk about how that perspective has shifted. I always start by saying that I don't, like, fully not care. I'm not like, I have no personal responsibility here. That's never been what I think, right? Um, however, we've done so much research, we've talked to so many people who are much more, you know, aware and who have committed their lives to revealing these things about the banking industry that make it really difficult for you to just continue to take on all the blame yourself. Debt, aside from people who believe there's like good debt versus bad debt, debt that you invest in your home, whatever. Debt is like a relationship between people, right? Like we all owe each other things in life. That is not a bad thing. But when we talk about debt, we talk about it from this one lens, like you're in debt and you're bad, right? We're not talking about how easy it is, how like part of the mainstream it is. I mean, what do you hear when you're growing up? Like you need to get a job. You need to have a good credit score. You need to buy a house. You need to be doing these things. You need to be part of society. It's very easy for you to be able to be part of society. And as soon as you're part of society, well, then it's you're on your own, right? Like, oh, now you were, you know, careless. And now you have to dig yourself out of this hole. And it's like the bigger question I think that we get to is like, who owes what to whom? The banks are extremely profitable. They make investments in things that directly harm us. Often we don't think about the relationship with the bank as a relationship. We think like we put our money in there and that's it, right? But like we are in a relationship with the bank and it's not really a relationship. It's like a very toxic situationship.
