Best Crypto to Invest In: 8 Coins Checked on CoinGecko

The earlier version of this crypto investing list named seven coins and called them analyst picks. One of those seven is now worth $265,932 in total and trades 100.0% below its all-time high. Another cannot be found on CoinGecko at all. A third no longer exists under the name this page gave it.

So this rewrite does two things. It reports what happened to every one of those picks, with a link you can check, and it then rebuilds the best crypto to invest in list from a rule that is stated before the names rather than after them. The rule is liquidity, and it removes four of the twenty largest coins in the market.

If you are screening further down the market, the same two columns applied to our meme coin list screened the same way show how much thinner the books get below the top two hundred. For the sub-category where that problem is worst, see our ranking of staking platforms .

No price target appears anywhere below. Nothing on this page forecasts a return, because no public directory records one.

Key Takeaways

The old number one went to almost nothing. Qubetics is now ranked 4,460 with a market cap of $265,932, down 100.0% from its high.

One old pick cannot be verified at all. ZIGnaly has no CoinGecko listing, so nobody can check a single figure about it.

One was renamed. EOS now trades as Vaulta, ranked 211.

Liquidity removes four of the top twenty. BNB, LEO, WhiteBIT and Figure HELOC all trade under 0.6% of their market cap a day.

Every surviving pick is below its peak , from 10.5% down (Hyperliquid) to 88.0% down (Dogecoin).

Nothing here is a forecast. Market cap, liquidity and drawdown are recorded facts; upside is not.

What Happened to the Seven Coins This Page Recommended Before

A list that never revisits its own picks is asking you to trust it without evidence. Here is every coin the earlier version named, read on 12 October 2026.

Coin Rank now Market cap now Down from high

Qubetics (TICS) 4460 $265,932 -100.0%

Vaulta (A) 211 $170,825,995 -86.9%

Sei (SEI) 122 $470,760,779 -93.9%

Filecoin (FIL) 80 $1,033,877,070 -99.5%

Internet Computer (ICP) 54 $1,921,618,536 -99.5%

Avalanche (AVAX) 25 $4,884,352,219 -92.4%

Qubetics was the page’s first pick and was described as the best coin to buy for a Web3 future. It now ranks 4,460 with a market cap of $265,932. The remaining five are real assets that are still trading, but four of them sit more than 86% below their highs.

ZIGnaly is not in that table because it cannot be put there. A CoinGecko search for it returns no coin at all, which means no market cap, no supply and no volume can be checked by anyone. An entry nobody can verify is removed here rather than repeated.

EOS appears as Vaulta because the project renamed itself and the ticker changed to A. A reader following the old page would search a name that no longer exists.

Taken one by one, the five survivors say something the summary table does not. Avalanche is the healthiest of them, ranked 25 with a $4.88 billion market cap, and it is still 92.4% below its high. Internet Computer ranks 54 at $1.92 billion and sits 99.5% down, which means the token has given back virtually everything it ever gained.

Filecoin ranks 80 with $1.03 billion and the same 99.5% drawdown. SEI ranks 122 at $470.76 million and is 93.9% down. Vaulta , the coin formerly called EOS, ranks 211 at $170.83 million and is 86.9% down, the shallowest fall of the five and still a severe one.

Read that list as a group and a pattern appears. Not one of the seven picks is above its price at the time the page recommended them. Five are real projects that fell a long way. One cannot be checked at all. One is close to worthless. That is the honest record of a list that was presented as analyst-grade selection.

That habit is rarer than it should be. Of the fourteen pages ranking for this search, seven could be read in full, and not one of them revisits its own earlier picks . None of the seven publishes a liquidity ratio either. The lists get rewritten each year and the previous year’s names quietly disappear.

The point of printing it is not self-criticism. It is that you can apply the same test to any list you read. Take its picks, look them up on a directory the author does not control, and see where they stand now. A list that never gets checked that way is free to be wrong forever.

It also explains the method change below. The old page ranked on narrative, and narrative is exactly what cannot be checked a year later. The screen that follows ranks on two numbers that can be, and states them with the date they were read.

The Rule Used to Pick the Best Crypto to Invest In Today

Everything that follows applies that one rule. If you only read one section on what the best crypto to invest in looks like by this method, read this one, because the names in the next section are simply whatever came out of it.

Three filters, applied in this order, to the top twenty coins by market cap on CoinGecko:

Not a stablecoin. A token pegged to a dollar is a holding place, not an investment decision.

Not a wrapped or staked derivative. Wrapped Bitcoin is Bitcoin with an extra counterparty, so it is not a separate pick.

Daily volume of at least 1% of market cap. This is the filter that does real work, and the one almost no list applies.

That third filter removes four of the twenty largest coins in the market:

Coin Rank Market cap 24h volume Vol ÷ cap

BNB (BNB) 4 $100,495,963,584 $554,600,137 0.0055

Figure Heloc (FIGR_HELOC) 9 $25,089,705,065 $106,017 0.0000

WhiteBIT Coin (WBT) 16 $9,846,383,285 $55,966,790 0.0057

LEO Token (LEO) 18 $8,181,662,757 $144,432 0.0000

Figure HELOC is ranked ninth in the world by market cap and traded $106,017 in a day. LEO is ranked eighteenth and traded $144,432. Those are not investment-grade order books at those valuations, whatever the rank suggests.

What this method deliberately ignores: roadmaps, partnership announcements and social following. None of the three is recorded by a neutral party, so none of them can be checked by you after you read this page.

The 8 Best Crypto to Invest In by This Screen

Ordered by market cap, largest first. Every figure below comes from CoinGecko on 12 October 2026.

1. Bitcoin (BTC) – the benchmark everything else is measured against

Bitcoin carries a $1.69 trillion market cap and trades about $19.02 billion a day. That is a turnover ratio of 0.011, which looks thin until you notice the size of the number it divides.

Website bitcoin.org

Market cap $1,691,179,567,847

CoinGecko rank 1

24-hour volume $19,019,549,427

Volume ÷ market cap 0.011

Price $84,149

Circulating supply 20,096,968

Down from all-time high -33.3%

All-time high set 2025-10-06

Last 30 days +9.0%

Last 12 months -24.7%

It is also the least damaged asset in this list. Bitcoin sits 33.3% below its all-time high while most of the coins below it are down 50% to 90%. Anyone building a first position usually starts here for that reason rather than for upside.

Over twelve months Bitcoin is -24.7% and over thirty days +9.0%. Those two numbers together are the argument for holding it rather than trading it: the asset moves, but it moves less violently than everything below it, and its order book absorbs size that would move a smaller coin by several percent.

Wrong fit for you if you want a position that can move several hundred percent in a quarter.

2. Ethereum (ETH) – the largest smart-contract platform, and still half off its peak

Ethereum holds a $313.86 billion market cap with $9.95 billion traded daily, a ratio of 0.032, which is three times Bitcoin’s and makes it the more actively traded of the two.

Website ethereum.org

Market cap $313,864,810,143

CoinGecko rank 2

24-hour volume $9,946,271,098

Volume ÷ market cap 0.032

Price $2,569.89

Circulating supply 122,127,761

Down from all-time high -48.0%

All-time high set 2025-08-24

Last 30 days +2.4%

Last 12 months -32.6%

It trades 48.0% below its all-time high. That is a deep drawdown for an asset this size, and it is the single clearest reminder that scale does not protect you from a long bear market.

Ethereum is -32.6% over twelve months and +2.4% over thirty days. The gap between its 0.032 turnover ratio and Bitcoin’s 0.011 matters here. More of Ethereum’s value changes hands daily, which means price discovery is faster and a large exit is easier to place without moving the market.

Wrong fit for you if you expect blue-chip stability. A 48% drawdown is not stability.

3. XRP (XRP) – big, liquid, and the most legally scrutinised asset here

XRP has an $89.26 billion market cap and $1.11 billion of daily volume, for a 0.012 ratio.

Website xrpl.org

Market cap $89,259,114,316

CoinGecko rank 5

Down from all-time high -61.2%

All-time high set 2025-07-17

Last 30 days +3.7%

Last 12 months -40.5%

It is 61.2% below its all-time high, which was set in a different regulatory era. Its price history tracks court outcomes more closely than it tracks the rest of the market, so it often moves when nothing else does.

XRP is -40.5% over the year and +3.7% over the month. Its drawdown of 61.2% is deeper than Ethereum’s and shallower than Dogecoin’s, and unlike either it has a known binary overhead: rulings land on a court calendar rather than a market one.

Wrong fit for you if headline risk keeps you awake. This asset reprices on legal news.

4. Solana (SOL) – the most actively traded large cap in this list

Solana runs a $66.33 billion market cap against $2.32 billion of daily volume. The ratio of 0.035 is the highest of the four largest assets here.

Website solana.com

Market cap $66,332,620,190

CoinGecko rank 7

24-hour volume $2,315,732,936

Down from all-time high -61.6%

All-time high set 2025-01-19

Last 30 days +10.8%

Last 12 months -38.0%

It gained 10.8% over the last 30 days and still sits 61.6% below its peak. High turnover cuts both ways: you can leave quickly, and so can everyone else.

Solana is -38.0% over twelve months and +10.8% over thirty days. A 0.035 ratio on a $66 billion cap means roughly $2.3 billion trades daily, so size is not the constraint for a retail position. Its 61.6% drawdown is the thing to weigh instead.

Wrong fit for you if volatility is the thing you are trying to avoid.

5. TRON (TRX) – the flattest chart in the list

TRON holds a $31.51 billion market cap with $308.38 million traded daily, a 0.010 ratio that only just clears the screen used here.

Website tron.network

Market cap $31,514,219,120

CoinGecko rank 8

24-hour volume $308,384,698

Volume ÷ market cap 0.010

Price $0.331722

Circulating supply 94,991,264,224

Down from all-time high -23.1%

All-time high set 2024-12-03

Last 30 days -3.4%

Last 12 months +5.3%

It is 23.1% below its all-time high, the second shallowest drawdown of the eight, and it fell 3.4% over the last 30 days while most of this list rose. It moves less than its neighbours in both directions.

TRON is +5.3% over the year and -3.4% over thirty days, the only fall in this list over the last month. Its 0.010 ratio is the thinnest here, and it only just clears the screen, so the stability in its chart is partly the stability of an asset that trades less.

Wrong fit for you if you are buying for a large move. This one rarely delivers one.

6. Zcash (ZEC) – the strongest 30-day move among the large caps

Zcash carries a $22.55 billion market cap and $965.96 million of daily volume, a ratio of 0.043 that is the highest of any asset in this list.

Website z.cash

Down from all-time high -58.4%

All-time high set 2016-10-28

Last 30 days +18.1%

Last 12 months +382.2%

It rose 18.1% in the last 30 days and remains 58.4% below its all-time high. Privacy assets carry a specific risk the others do not: exchanges in several countries have delisted them, so where you can trade it may narrow without warning.

Zcash is +382.2% over twelve months and +18.1% over thirty days, the strongest monthly move in the list. Its 0.043 ratio is also the deepest book here relative to size, which is unusual for an asset with delisting risk and worth noting before reading the move as pure demand.

Wrong fit for you if you need certainty that your exchange will still list it next year.

7. Hyperliquid (HYPE) – the newest asset here, and the closest to its own high

Hyperliquid has a $19.51 billion market cap and $502.20 million of daily volume, a 0.026 ratio.

Website hyperliquid.xyz

Market cap $19,511,006,213

Down from all-time high -10.5%

All-time high set 2026-09-23

Last 30 days +11.6%

Last 12 months +127.5%

It is 10.5% below its all-time high , by far the shallowest drawdown in this list. That is because its high was set recently rather than because it has recovered from anything. A short history means there is no bear market in its chart to learn from.

Hyperliquid is +127.5% over twelve months and +11.6% over thirty days. Read both with its age in mind. A twelve-month figure for an asset that has not traded through a full cycle describes one market regime, not the asset’s behaviour across several.

Wrong fit for you if you want to see how an asset behaved through a full cycle before buying.

8. Dogecoin (DOGE) – liquid, large, and 88% below where it peaked

Dogecoin holds a $13.68 billion market cap with $450.15 million traded daily, a healthy 0.033 ratio that keeps it easy to enter and leave.

Website dogecoin.com

Market cap $13,682,868,479

CoinGecko rank 12

24-hour volume $450,151,063

Volume ÷ market cap 0.033

Circulating supply 156,289,806,384

Down from all-time high -88.0%

All-time high set 2021-05-07

Last 30 days +3.7%

Last 12 months -53.7%

It is 88.0% below its all-time high , the deepest drawdown of the eight. The coin has no supply cap, so new coins are issued continuously, which is a structural headwind that none of the others in this list carry.

Dogecoin is -53.7% over the year and +3.7% over thirty days. The 88.0% drawdown and continuous new issuance are the two structural facts here, and neither is affected by how actively it trades.

Wrong fit for you if you are investing on fundamentals rather than on attention.

All 8 Compared on Size, Liquidity and Drawdown

Coin Rank Market cap 24h volume Vol ÷ cap 30 days From high

Bitcoin (BTC) 1 $1,691,179,567,847 $19,019,549,427 0.011 +9.0% -33.3%

Ethereum (ETH) 2 $313,864,810,143 $9,946,271,098 0.032 +2.4% -48.0%

XRP (XRP) 5 $89,259,114,316 $1,109,221,511 0.012 +3.7% -61.2%

Solana (SOL) 7 $66,332,620,190 $2,315,732,936 0.035 +10.8% -61.6%

TRON (TRX) 8 $31,514,219,120 $308,384,698 0.010 -3.4% -23.1%

Zcash (ZEC) 10 $22,552,585,409 $965,963,599 0.043 +18.1% -58.4%

Hyperliquid (HYPE) 11 $19,511,006,213 $502,198,874 0.026 +11.6% -10.5%

Dogecoin (DOGE) 12 $13,682,868,479 $450,151,063 0.033 +3.7% -88.0%

Read the last column with the first. Hyperliquid is closest to its high because its high is recent, not because it has recovered. Dogecoin is furthest from its high and is still one of the easiest assets here to trade.

What Buyers Get Wrong About Picking Coins to Invest In

Treating rank as liquidity. Four of the top twenty cannot absorb a serious order.

Reading a shallow drawdown as strength. It often just means a short history.

Taking a presale pitch as a pick. Qubetics is what that looks like a year later.

Not checking the name still exists. EOS became Vaulta and the old page never said so.

The habit worth keeping is small. Before you buy, divide the daily volume by the market cap, then ask whether the position you want to take is a small fraction of that day’s trade or a visible share of it. The answer changes what you should size.

How to read the drawdown column before you buy

Distance from all-time high is the most useful number on this page and the most often misread. It tells you what the market once paid for an asset and how far it has fallen since. It tells you nothing about what happens next.

Three tiers show up in the table above, and they mean different things:

Under 35% down (Bitcoin, TRON, Hyperliquid). Either the asset held up through the last decline, or its high is recent enough that there has not been a decline to hold up through. Check which before you read it as strength.

45% to 65% down (Ethereum, XRP, Solana, Zcash). A full cycle has passed and the asset has not returned to its peak. For a return to that peak the price must roughly double or triple from here, which is a different proposition from a new high.

Over 85% down (Dogecoin). Recovering to the old high needs an eight-fold move. That has happened in crypto before, and it is a much larger ask than the headline percentage makes it sound.

The arithmetic people get wrong is the reverse of the percentage. An asset down 88% does not need to rise 88% to recover. It needs to rise 733%. An asset down 50% needs 100%. The deeper the drawdown, the more lopsided that maths becomes.

What this screen does not tell you

The method here measures size and tradeability. It is deliberately silent on several things that matter to an investment decision, and it is worth being explicit about which:

Whether the technology works. Market cap and volume say nothing about whether a chain does what it claims to do.

Whether the supply schedule is fair. Dogecoin issues new coins forever and Bitcoin stops at 21 million, and both pass the same liquidity filter.

Whether the team is still active. A dormant project can trade heavily for a long time on nothing but existing holders changing hands.

Whether you can legally hold it where you live. Privacy assets in particular face exchange restrictions that vary by country.

What it is worth. A screen on liquidity is not a valuation, and this page does not pretend to offer one.

What it does give you is a floor. Every coin above can be bought and sold in reasonable size on the day this was written, and that is more than four of the twenty largest coins in the market can honestly claim.

A worked example of the liquidity test

Say you want to put $50,000 into one position and be able to leave inside a single trading day without pushing the price against yourself. Run that number against the volume column rather than the market cap column.

Against Zcash, $50,000 is about 0.005% of a $965.96 million trading day. Against Solana it is roughly 0.002% of $2.32 billion. Neither is noticeable, so size is simply not your constraint with either.

Now run the same $50,000 against the four coins the screen removed. Figure HELOC traded $106,017 in a day, so your order alone would be close to half of everything that changed hands. LEO traded $144,432, so you would be around a third of the day. At those ratios you are no longer a participant in the market, you are the market, and the exit price you get is whatever your own selling produces.

That is the entire argument for the filter. It has nothing to do with whether those projects are good. It is that a $25 billion valuation attached to a $106,017 trading day describes two different things, and only one of them is a price you could actually realise.

Do the same arithmetic with whatever amount you are considering before you read any recommendation, on this page or elsewhere. It takes ten seconds and it rules out more bad outcomes than any amount of research into a project’s roadmap.

Who this list is not for

Anyone looking for the best crypto to invest in with a small account and a short horizon is reading the wrong page. Every coin here is large, and large coins move slowly relative to the small ones that fill most recommendation lists.

It is also the wrong page if you want a thesis. There is no argument below about which chain wins, which technology matters or which team is strongest. Those questions are real, and nothing in a market-cap table answers them.

What this page suits is the reader who has already decided to hold something and wants to know, before buying, whether they will be able to sell. That question has a checkable answer, and almost nobody publishes it.

If your question is instead the best crypto to invest in for a ten-year hold, the drawdown column is the one to study. It tells you how these assets behaved the last time the market turned, which is the closest thing to evidence anyone can offer you about the next time.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best crypto to invest in right now?

No page can answer that for you, and any page that does is guessing. What this one gives you is the eight largest coins that pass a stated liquidity screen, each with its market cap, daily volume and distance from its all-time high, read from CoinGecko on 12 October 2026.

Why were four of the top twenty coins excluded?

Because they trade under 1% of their market cap in a day. BNB is at 0.0055, WhiteBIT at 0.0057, and both LEO and Figure HELOC round to zero. A high rank with almost no daily trade means the valuation and the market are two different things.

What happened to Qubetics, the old top pick?

It is ranked 4,460 with a market cap of $265,932 and trades 100.0% below its all-time high. It was promoted here as a presale, and presales carry no third-party record at the time they are sold, which is the reason this page no longer ranks them.

Is Bitcoin still the safest crypto to invest in?

It is the least drawn-down asset in this list at 33.3% below its high, against 48.0% for Ethereum and 88.0% for Dogecoin. Safest is a comparison, not a guarantee, and a 33% drawdown would be a crisis in most other asset classes.

How many coins should a first position hold?

That depends on money you control and risk you accept, which this page knows nothing about. What the table supports is a narrower point: spreading across assets that all fail the liquidity screen does not diversify anything.

How often do these numbers change?

Continuously. Every figure here was read on 12 October 2026. Open the linked CoinGecko profile before you act on any of it.

Why this list is shorter than most

Pages answering best crypto to invest in usually run to twenty or thirty names. This one stops at eight because the filter does the cutting rather than the writer, and a filter applied honestly removes more than it keeps.

A longer list is easier to write and easier to rank. It gives every reader at least one name they already like, and it never has to defend a cut. The cost is that it tells you nothing about what the author would actually exclude, which is the only part of a recommendation with any information in it.

Eight names also keeps the table readable. You can hold eight rows in your head and compare them on two columns. At thirty rows you stop comparing and start skimming, which is how people end up buying the name they recognised rather than the one that fit.

What would change this list

The screen is mechanical, so the answer is mechanical too. A coin joins the list when it enters the top twenty by market cap and trades at least 1% of that cap daily. It leaves when either condition stops being true.

Two of the current eight are close to that line. TRON sits at 0.010, barely over the threshold, and would drop out on a quiet fortnight. Hyperliquid is new enough that a single large unlock could move both its cap and its turnover sharply.

Equally, the four coins excluded today are not excluded permanently. BNB at 0.0055 would qualify if its daily volume roughly doubled while its cap held, and that is an ordinary amount of movement over a few months in this market.

Anyone asking what is the best crypto to invest in six months from now should re-run those two numbers rather than re-read this page. The method is the part worth keeping; the names are just what it returned on one day.

Final Word on the Best Crypto to Invest In

If drawdown is what you weigh, Bitcoin is the least damaged asset here at 33.3% below its high, and TRON is second at 23.1%.

If you care most about being able to leave, Zcash turns over 4.3% of its market cap daily and Solana 3.5%, the two deepest books in the list.

If a short history worries you, Hyperliquid is the one to read carefully. Its 10.5% drawdown is the best in this list and also the least informative.

And whatever you decide, open the CoinGecko profile for the coin and read the figure yourself. Everything above moves while you are reading it.

This article is information, not financial advice. Crypto assets are volatile and you can lose the whole amount you put in. Do your own research and never invest more than you can afford to lose.

Sources, Method and Known Limitations

CoinGecko markets API – market cap, rank, 24-hour volume, supply, price, all-time-high date and drawdown, and 30-day and 12-month change for every coin named. Read 12 October 2026.

CoinGecko coin profiles – the per-coin profiles behind each figure in the tables above.

Qubetics on CoinGecko – the per-coin profile behind the Qubetics figures quoted in the accountability table.

Method. Top twenty by market cap, minus stablecoins, minus wrapped and staked derivatives, minus anything trading under 1% of its market cap per day. The eight that remain are listed largest first.

Known limitations. Figures move continuously and were accurate only on the date stated. ZIGnaly could not be checked because no listing for it exists. Nothing here forecasts a price, and the screen measures tradeability rather than quality.
